The Mass was celebrated by Fr. Michael Gribbon, Chaplain and concelebrated by Fr. Thomas Doyle, Pastor of Good Shepherd Parish.
In his homily Fr. Gribbon asked the school community to reflect on the journey of the new school year and how we can invite the Holy Spirit and one another into that journey. "I'm sure you are familiar with the proverb 'A journey of 10,000 miles begins with a single step'. This wisdom, which comes from the Chinese tradition, gives us a lot to think about today. You can do all the planning in the world, but you have to begin with the first step. There must be action! We come today with both our plans and our actions on our minds and hearts. Let us begin our journey today in faith, that we can be nourished by this Eucharist, by the Word of God and by the love that we bring for and with each other today. We ask the Holy Spirit to come among us to help the nourishment we receive today to become the realization of the good work which we begin today."
At the conclusion of the Mass, the St. Edmund Prep community prayed in a special way for Br. Mark Amatrucola, co who will leave our community on sabbatical this year to continue his studies for the Priesthood in Rome.
Following the mass, students joined in a BBQ lunch in the school yard.
