Eagles Partner with Sideout Foundation to Battle Breast Cancer

In volleyball, the term “Side Out” refers to a team's need to regain possession of the ball. The Side-Out foundation, however, supports the journey of people with Breast Cancer regaining control of their lives. This non-profit organization works to significantly impact the lives and families of people affected by this vicious disease. The goal is to become a source of hope for those affected, focusing specifically on patients battling the most advanced stage of the disease, that being stage 4 breast cancer. Since 2004, volleyball teams across the world have been able to help support this cause.

St. Edmund Prep began their efforts to support this cause in 2016, and, with the help of their JV and varsity volleyball teams, have continued to raise funds every year since. Students, staff, peers, and family have collectively shown their dedication to supporting the Side Out foundation every single year.

This year, St. Edmund Prep will administer their Dig Pink Volleyball game on October 16th, where both JV and Varsity teams will represent the cause in which they have been supporting over the past few months as they take on Bishop Loughlin. The student athletes have worked together to increase donations by sharing the fundraiser page, contributing to and working various bake sales, creating and selling t-shirts, selling raffle boxes and tickets, all the while displaying their continuous dedication to the cause. The student body and athletes have helped the Side-Out foundation tremendously and will continue to do so in the coming years.
