Thanks to our speakers: Eleanor McLaughlin Kehoe ‘64, Kathy Vulpis, Anthony Oglesby ‘98, and Bridget Harte ‘18, we traveled down memory lane remembering some of the important transitions in our school’s history which have sustained us and allowed our school to thrive. We were also able to rejoice in new ones; celebrating the 90th birthday of alumna Ursla Yard Van Orden '49 and sharing in the presentation of the first endowed scholarship in memory of Carmela and Joseph Esposito to senior Michael DiCamillo '22, generously created in 2018 by alumna Mary Lee Esposito Kreuter ’66, in honor of her beloved parents.
The night concluded with the unveiling of the Innovation Campaign for St Edmund and the naming of the Innovation Center in honor of our generous benefactors, Lois Koplin and the late Michael Koplin. This major renovation is the next step in the advancement of St. Edmund Prep. Principal Allison McGinnis presented each facet of the center and discussed how this new space will give students the opportunity to explore their curiosities and passions in the STEAM fields. The art gallery will be transformed into a Maker Space, a collaborative work area often seen in prestigious colleges and universities that encourages exploration in the sciences, engineering, and art and design by honing in on skills including adaptability, creative problem solving, and teamwork.
We are very blessed to have experienced such a wonderful night honoring the achievements of the past 90 years of our school’s history and sharing in the upcoming next steps towards the growth of St. Edmund.
